I don't know if you're aware but a lot of artists on Etsy started to help Japan in this terrible tragedy, donating proceeds from sales to Non-profit organizations that would help Japan rise again. Today I'm going to show you some pictures from the before & during of our master bedroom. Let me just tell you that our bedroom was used as a spare living room by the prior owners, so we decided to devide the space, the smaller is now my studio {to be shown in a future post} & our bedroom.

Although I'm a white decor lover we decided to add some color on one wall. We chose taupe because it goes great with a lot of color shades.

Book review: Flea Market Decorating

I received a copy of Flea Market Decorating: creating style with vintage finds last friday & as a hawk that dives into the air to catch its prey, I sat at the edge of the bed, with the book in my lap for the first flick through, page by page, quickly, a second time more slowly to sip every detail.

What a great book! I wasn't sure if this was what I was looking for when I ordered it, you never know when you buy books online, sometimes you can rely on previous customers reviews, but that can also be subjective because it depends on the expectations of each individual, but it turned out to be exactly the kind of book I was looking for.

It's full of tips on thinking laterally when using flea market finds in your home & how can you blend different finds in one totally different piece. Lots of fabulous pictures, references to flea markets & thrift shops around the world, in case you like to include flea market visits in your vacation plans.

The book does not say that to your house look like this you have to buy this & that & add this or that, which I would personally hate. The way it shows the different environments & pieces leaves an open path to creativity & helps to sharpen the look for your next visit to a flea market.

I totally recomend it <3

My sweet home: living room window

How is this wednesday treating you so far my dears? Mine it's kind of messy, I've a lot of work to do at my daily job, the rain is not helping me make the photographs I need to do, in order to add new pieces in my Etsy shop... I guess I have to be patient with the weather, because I'm the one who likes to photograph everything with natural light, right?

So for today I've prepared a sequence of photos of our living room window. You might think "a post about a window!!! what the hell!!!"

I have a very simple explanation on the subject, in the pictures bellow you'll see how the use of white paint & a change of window framing & glass can improve your perception of natural light inside a house.



The previous owners had the place for almost 20 years, the paint was some sort of dark beige with lots of dirt & cracking everywhere. They had these venetian curtains that blocked all the natural light, the window frame was made of iron, painted in white & it didn't open properly anymore, the glass was hammered & some of the windows were broken. Although I like this vintage kind of glass we needed a big change on that window in order to obtain more natural light inside the living room.



At this point we had all the walls & ceillings treated properly & painted in white. Has you can see without the curtains & the cracked beige paint the room was already receiving more natural light inside.



This is the final result with the new double glass & white pvc window framing. I took this picture the day the kitchen was to be mounted, that's why you see a lot of kitchen stuff on the living room floor.

Can you see the difference? Our living room gained in natural light but also in keeping the house warmer or fresher depending on the time of the year. I'll be adding some curtains, but in a very light weight fabric to let the light come in.

My sweet home: living room details

Hello my dear readers,

On wednesdays I like to talk about decor, I try to do it also on the daily find & daily inspiration columns. My intention it to show up every week a little more of my sweet new home, I'm so happy we found this apartment. For the first time I feel I can put everything the way I like, or at least try, because I have room, I have the light. I just hope that you find it interesting. My intention is to show a real home, where real people live, where there's always mess made by our daughters & not a magazine styled perfect home.



I love to mix vintage finds with modern furniture. Luckly in my own street I have an amazing antique shop run by two nice middle-age gentlemen. The very first time I went for a visit this golden cabinet caught my attention. "It was not for sale" they said, so I kept pushing & they decided to sell me for the incredible price of 60 euros {approximately $80}. It's perfect to store all the tiny vintage pieces bought on Ebay for several years & my collection of vintage cameras.

Since we moved we decided that we need to change our sofa. We had an Everöd orange TYLÖSAND {honestly I was fed up with it, specially for the color} & wanted something more sober with a neutral but warm color. After some research we chose the Korndal brown KARLSTAD.

It only took us 45 minutes to join all the couch parts {the IKEA concept is really fantastic} & for the final touch I added two huge & super fluffy pillows from Zara Home.

Daily find: White Peacock Wine Glasses

Still inspired by Holly's Justfeathers shop I had to show something feather inspired for today's daily find.

These elegant peacock wine glasses are painted by hand. The graceful white feathers stand out brilliantly against the ruby red wine.
